Polar Ticks - from Yogi Times
Political correctness, incorrectness
and the many paths to enlightenment

At the beginning of the summer I had the opportunity to attend the Sonoma County health & harmony festival. I happen to walk just as ram Das began addressing the crowd. He said,” I am tired of attending Peace rallies full of angry people. Peace is about tolerance, not about being right.” That talk inspired me to remember the definition of a Yogi I learned from my teacher several years back:
The Yogi is not affected by the opposite polarities of life. Not by praise nor slander, illness nor health, nor life or death, the Yogi lives in the flow of universe.

There are as many paths as there are people. All the paths lead to the same place. The Enlightenment zone. What is that illusive and rare state that we seek? Enlightenment is a state of direct experiences, rather than through the distorted filter of preconceptions perception and the mind. In seeking this state of union we go through many states of non-union: Doubt, duality and polarity.

The intent of yoga is crystal clear. To live beyond the polarities of life, beyond the human tribal tendencies of survival and on to the evolutionary aspects of tolerance, kindness and compassion. Yoga teaches us to know how to live without fear. There is a moment in every life when you have your last exhale, and at that moment can you relate to your pure essence, can you surf the cosmic consciousness?

Who is the doer? Who does everything? Who does ALL? All the things that you like, and yes all the things that you intensely dislike all happen at the hand of the infinite organized intelligence of the universe.

We have a choice as we experience life. We can create a polarity or a unity, we can see the play of life as inclusive of all or you can split your self into a polarity of perception. We can act consciously or react by habit. When you have a Split perception of unity, you are limited, your love is limited and you begin to act from values of fear rather than from the knowledge of infinite abundance.

The following Yoga coans coans will guide your brain toward balance and a clear perception of inner and outer reality.

1 The universe is perfect in its perfection at all times and in all places.
2 There is always room for improvement however there is nothing to fix.
3 Embrace the lessons of life. Seek the wisdom of every atom.
4 There is only Love and the resistance to love, which is fear.
5 Annihilate your fear and let go of attachments
6 Everyone is doing his or her best. If they knew of a better way, they would be doing that.
7 As long as we perceive an “US” and “Them” we are nurturing duality. The same infinite intelligence is present in ALL.
8 If you can’t see god in all, you can’t see god at all. (Yogi Bhajan)
9 Can you be kind and compassionate in the most challenging environments to people who are not remembering their infinite nature? That is the test of life, can you live free of your tendencies, rise above the circumstances and lead with your intelligent, intuitive compassion??

10 Inner peace leads to world peace

It only takes a single drop of lemon to spoil a bucket of milk.
It only takes a glint of anger, self-righteousness, fear or self-animosity to turn an act of leadership to an act of revenge.

In this season of politics, approach it with an attitude of big compassion for all. I encourage all people to vote with passion and conviction, without hate or animosity on any level for anyone.
